Week 1 Assignment
While reading Appendix A and all that was discussed throughout, I can share my own experiences with how the World Wide Web is used in almost every aspect of my daily living. I log on to the internet sometimes 10 times a day to access different sites that help me with completing everyday tasks. I do my banking, access my credit cards, auto insurance, and just about everything in my life depends on the internet.
When discussing the network and all systems connecting to the network, I can relate to the home printer that all our computers located at this address use. Each device has its own separate IP address and still has access to the printer, which I now understand is called a network node. I am looking at the TV as I am writing this summary, and I can also relate the TVs in the home to the network. I can use this computer I am typing on to stream to the TV and show exactly what I am doing. Overall, this is amazing and exciting.
I went on to read about the different cable options available. The twisted pair cable is not one that I have dealt with. Once I became interested in computers, the landline phone became absent from our home, and I do not remember even using it. Coaxial cable was used for our cable TV and the satellite we had installed some years ago. Once again, that became obsolete in our home. I was then introduced to fiber optic wiring, which I currently use as well as wireless internet.
This is something I believe I could not live without. This brings me to my question: what would happen if everything stopped working? How would we have access to anything?
